Goodbye 2016, I'm tired...

As 2016 comes to a close I've taken some time to reflect on the past year and what I have accomplished (or haven't accomplished) and decided I want to do more and be more in 2017!

We all have resolutions we never keep, goals we never reach and words left unspoken. Let's change our attitudes, change our behaviour and change our lives!

As I was driving the other day I watched the sunrise ahead of me. I was thinking "It sure is beautiful, I'd love to take a picture but I don't have my good camera on me, it will probably look crappy anyway, plus I'm just too tired" But something inside of me prompted me to take a minute, stop and snap the picture anyway. When I turned around to get back in my vehicle I noticed the beautiful sky behind me and it got me thinking, what if I hadn't taken the time to stop? Sure I could see the beautiful glow before me cast out across the glistening snow but I would have totally missed the colourful magic unfolding behind me. That moment as I stood there looking behind me and watching the colour fade fast it made me realize that it's ok to look back, reflect and refresh.  So as I got back in my vehicle and continued on to my destination, it got me thinking...

Sometimes, the best camera is the one you have on you.
I keep looking back at this photo and thinking am I ever glad I obeyed that nudge, that prompt, to catch that moment and not let it pass without another thought. That feeling, the stillness, the quiet and the crisp morning air was so refreshing, so energizing. I'm so in love with those winter skies. I'm tired of not utilizing the tools I have more often. I will use what I have in the moment.

We need to seize every moment.
Life is just too short. With all the deaths, heartache, and destruction we read about in the news on a daily basis we never know when it will be our turn next. We often rush through life in a hurry to get to our destination without ever stopping to take in the scenery and enjoy the ones around us until it's too late. I'm tired of missed opportunities. I will pause moments, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

Negativity is mind games.
I keep thinking "Man, what if I had just dismissed this moment because I listened to those negative thoughts of inadequacy how I wasn't good enough or my equipment wasn't good enough?" It may not be the best quality but it's actually one of my favourite images. I'm tired of letting the negative thoughts rule my life. I will look for the positive in every situation. I will listen for the positive voice.

So goodbye 2016, Hello 2017!
Let's make this the year of positive changes.
Use what you have.
Live in the moment.
Speak kind words to yourself.
For if we want to change the world, we must start within....

Jesus Inspires Me Color & Activity Book

"Jesus Inspires Me" is a coloring and activity book by Graham Blanchard, where kids can create and have fun, all while learning about Jesus. Each original page ties together facts and themes from their "Knowing My God" series, while working to inspire creativity and a love for Jesus in the lives of children.
So normally my son doesn't go for any coloring books and lately, at the age of 5, he doesn't want to hear about church at all :( But when I got this in the mail he took it right away! The activities were interesting to him! Finally! He was so caught up in it I almost forgot to post a review! It has a great quality in the paper for coloring and loads of activities as well such as mazes and dot to dots. All the while this coloring book is teaching our wee ones about Jesus. Graham Blanchard has yet to disappoint and I've loved each item I've received from them. Superior quality, sturdy and all around appealing. I hope you enjoy!

Hair Expertise Vox Box

Love getting these boxes in the mail. That means product testing time! This time it was the L'oreal Luminizer Shampoo, conditioner and Shine mist. Absolutely love this product! It left my hair feeling light and weightless and not weighed down with product. Love the smell, for someone who's really sensitive to strong smells it was great. No tacky residue left behind like other brands I've been using. It left a nice shine to my hair and wasn't greasy looking. I got this product for free by being an Influenster. Get the app on the App Store!

Jesus Helps Me By Callie Grant

"Jesus Helps Me" offers four levels of exploration: a quoted Bible passage (John 12:44-47), supporting captions that relate the passage to a child’s life, thinking questions to personalize the experience and colorful, full page photographs. Also included is a tip section for parents on how to use the book with a baby, toddler, and child. The book is a Learn book in the well-received Learn, Absorb & Praise™ Collection, which makes personal Bible studies accessible to young children. Alongside adults, the series helps kids build a foundation for faith and a lifelong friendship with Jesus. The release of "Jesus Helps Me" coincides with launch of the re-designed of the Knowing My God series, which now features an updated look and expanded content. More on this title is pasted below, and available at http://www.grahamblanchard.com/product/jesus-helps-me/

What a well presented book. The beautiful animal illustrations along with a caption about that particular animal and a scripture to back it up in Gods words. I really like this book although I do believe it's more geared toward toddlers. Not sure if it's because my 5 year old with Aspergers found it too immature or not. I think the way the book is laid out you can read just the scripture or just the captions to children with short attention spans. I think my son was expecting more of a story based book, hence the disappointment.  I think it is a wonderful combination of scripture and truth while studying the different creatures in our world. It's a nice sturdy board book with bright colors and actual photographs rather than drawn images.

Where She Belongs By Johnnie Alexander

Can love redeem a broken past?
Shelby Kincaid is ready to move forward after the death of her husband left her devastated. With high hopes for the future, she longs to purchase her family's homestead, Misty Willow, so she can raise her young daughters in the only place she ever truly belonged. She plans to transform the abandoned house into the perfect home of her memories. But she has her work cut out for her.
AJ Sullivan never wanted Shelby's family homestead in the first place. His grandfather left it to him as punishment for not following his wishes, and he's let it fall into ruin. AJ's more than happy to unload it to this spitfire of a woman. But even after angry exchanges over the state of the house, he can't get her off his mind.
With writing that evokes a strong sense of place and family history, Johnnie Alexander deftly explores the ties that bind us to home--and the irresistible forces that draw us to each other.
This is the first time I can recall reading any of this authors works. It's a story that shows that no one is perfect but no one is ever too far gone from saving. The story is well developed without being too drawn out and boring. It keeps you interested until the end and it's one of those not-what-I-expected outcomes. Well rounded character development and I can see myself looking for more of this authors works in the future. I eagerly away the next novel in the series. I think the author accomplished what he set out to do, providing readers with a bit of romance, a bit of humor and always a little mystery.

Beautiful inspirational scripture on the right page and a journaling space on the left. Great addition to the current adult coloring craze market. I think there should have been more images to color, coloring the words tens to be a little dull over time. All in all it is a great way to connect with God while destressing and relaxing.
