How to Talk so Your Husband Will Listen: And Listen so Your Husband Will Talk by Rick Johnson

Ever feel like he just doesn’t hear you? It’s no secret that men and women speak different languages. Or maybe it’s just that we think we say one thing and our spouse hears something else entirely. But if good communication is one of the keys to a happy marriage, it’s time to get on the same page! You can have a powerful influence on your husband if you know how to talk to him. Now relationship expert Rick Johnson shares the secrets to speaking to your husband in ways he will respond to positively. He shows you how to recognize and affirm your man’s good qualities encourage leadership, forgiveness, and patience in your husband build his authentic masculinity deal with a man’s anger, self-centeredness, or other negative traits and much more If you’re ready for a brighter, more harmonious future for your relationship, you will love this insightful and sometimes humorous insider’s look into the mind of every man.

As a newly married woman I always feel my husband never listens to me, like he's off in another world (Sometimes I wonder, lol). Ever hear Men are from Mars? Yea, I think they are. But in all honesty, Rick did a great job in keeping this book in line with the Biblical aspect, how a woman should stand behind her man and support him 100%. It's hard in such a feminist society, but we must realize God wants us to support our men, serve him (for lack of a better term, blah). A book written for women, to understand men, by a man. Yes it is a must read. I think women need to get out of the "superior" role and fall back into the "supportive" role. I'm intrigued to read more books by Mr. Johnson.

Purpose. What is it? What are we here for? What does God want to do with our lives? Questions we all ask ourselves from time to time. There are 6 sections to this book such as Waiting on God and Following his lead. Susie also used personal stories that I could definitely relate to and it sure made a personal connection to the book. I love when a book draws on scriptural reference, it always makes me open my Bible and read further into God's work. This is a great group study as well.

Picture Perfect (Book 1 in the Weddings By Design series) by Janice Thompson

She’s trying to focus on her future. How can one man make everything feel so . . . fuzzy? Hannah McDermott has a successful photography studio. She’ll soon be featured in Texas Bride magazine. And she has a celebrity client whose Galveston ceremony will be her ticket to the top spot on wedding coordinator Bella Neeley’s list of recommended photographers. But it could all come crashing down around her because of one man: archrival and photographer extraordinaire Drew Kincaid. As the competition between Hannah and Drew heats up, Hannah is surprised to find that it’s not the only thing getting more intense. She can’t get the handsome man out of her thoughts-or even out of her line of sight-and the job of her dreams is turning into a nightmare. Will everything she’s worked for slip out of her hands? And can she see past her pride to find a picture-perfect love? With contagious humor and a cast of quirky characters, Janice Thompson gives you crazy bridal-business drama, sweet romance, and a satisfying dose of laughter.
I absolutely love this book! Fell in love with the characters right from the beginning. There was so much subtle humor my husband used to asked me what I was grinning at every few minutes, lol. It's definitely a romantic comedy that I think would make a great movie, but we all know a movie is never as good as a book! This book is about 2 characters, an insecure wedding photographer named Hannah and her arch nemesis (or is he), Drew Kincaid. You can tell Drew has feelings for Hannah the first time he is introduced but Hannah fails to see it. He's just another Jacquie Goldfarb! (Her rival from high school that Hannah compares everyone she meets to). I can rave enough about this book and so, so sooooooooooo glad that the title reads book 1 cause that means there's another! YAY!!!!!

Firefly Island By Lisa Wingate

"Lisa Wingate is a glorious storyteller!" --New York Times bestselling author Adriana Trigiani SOMETIMES LOVE TAKES YOU ON AN ADVENTURE COMPLETELY OFF THE MAP Mallory Hale's life quickly veers off course when she falls hopelessly in love. After a whirlwind romance, Mallory finds herself leaving the bustle and action of Capitol Hill for the remote town of Moses Lake, Texas--with husband, stepson, and a U-Haul in tow. A sweet, mishap-filled journey into marriage, motherhood, and ranch living ensues, and Mallory is filled with both the wonderment of love and the insecurities of change. But what she can't shake is the unease she feels around her husband's new boss, Jack West. Jack's presence--and his mysterious past--set her on edge, and when hints of a scandal emerge, Mallory finds herself seeking answers . . . and comes to realize that the middle-of-nowhere home she wasn't sure she wanted is the very place she'll risk everything to save.

A great riches to rags story that seemed to move too fast in the beginning, but by the end of the book I was glad it did (as the story is really about life in Moses Lake). It's about a woman named Mallory, who is a high strung employee working her butt off in the big city, meets the love of her life, get's married, and becomes a step mother, housewife, and is uprooted from the city life to a tiny dot on the map called Moses Lake, Texas. She soon finds out marriage is not all sunshine and roses but rodent infestation and a secretive boss trying to stop people from getting on an island that only he has the key to. It is a great lighthearted read full of mystery, romance, tears and laughter. It does get a bit suspenseful near the end when we find out more about Mallory's suspicions of her husbands boss Jack West and what exactly he is up to.
Looking forward to another book about Moses Lake!

This book focuses on Proverbs 3:1-6, about King Solomon's wisdom and it was laugh out loud funny! The author has such a funny way of putting things (with his life experiences), there was always humor in every chapter, I read it in about a couple hours. It get's you thinking about how you can use those little tidbits and apply them to your own life each day. I have another book by Leeman but I never realized how down to earth he was in his writings before, I will definitely be looking for more books in the near future!
